Highlights Week 4

Division 1:- 20 points each from Eric Lupton and David Hodgson ensured Rugby Hounds a comfortable win over Helenians; Rugby Hounds remain top of the table.  Newburgh Lions had a much closer victory over Abbey Sinners thanks to 17 points from Jim Maloney; Bill Gerrard replied with 15 for the losing team.  Despite 20 points from Janet Crompton, Squigglers lost to Robin Hood. An impressive 21 points from John Wilson greatly helped Greyhound overcome Colly Wobblers for whom Pat Gibson scored 17.  21 from Darren Martin and 18 from Alan Gibbs ensured a comfortable victory for Unison over Whippet

Division 2:- Gang of Four ended  Parbold Exiles’ winning run and remain at the top.    Abbey Saints move into second place after their win over Ormskirk Tennis Club; all four Abbey players registered double figure scores.  Alan Thompson’s 18 points assured Ormskirk Theatre Company’s victory over Legion Lions. Ormskirk Farmers had the narrowest of wins over Benchwarmers.

President's Trophy

Ormskirk began the defence of the Trophy with a close away win against Liverpool by 49 points to 47, Pat Gibson contributing 19.

Highlights Week 3

Division 1:- Rugby Hounds, thanks to 15 points from Eric Lupton drew with Abbey Sinners; Rugby Hounds remain top of the table. Despite 19 points from Pat Gibson, Colly Wobblers lost to Unison for whom Darren Martin scored 20. An impressive 21 points from Jim Maloney ensured Newburgh Lions’ victory over Squigglers for whom Janet Crompton contributed 15 points. In a close game Whippet managed to hold off Helenians.

Division 2:- Gang of Four made it three wins out of three, and remain top of the table, with a victory over Abbey Saints; Mal Jones scoring 16 for the winners. Despite 16 points from Rob Green, Benchwarmers lost to Ormskirk Theatre Company for whom Alan Thompson scored 17. Parbold Exiles maintained their 100% record and move to second after their win over Ormskirk Farmers. An outstanding 27 points from Paul Prior was a major factor in Ormskirk Tennis Club’s victory over OCC; Jacqui Birchall contributed 18 points to OCC’s score.   In the other game Aughton Institute beat Legion Lions.

Highlights Week 2

Division 1:- Unison with only three players overcame Robin Hood; Charles Johnson, with 20 points and Alan Gibbs (15), led the scoring for Unison while Sue Perks registered 19 for Robin Hood. A massive 26 points and ‘full house’ from Pat Gibson was a major factor in Colly Wobblers’ win over Helenians for whom Mike Flaherty scored 16. 15 points from Jim Maloney wasn’t quite enough for Newburgh Lions who lost narrowly to Rugby Hounds. Despite 18 points from Francis Sephton, Abbey Sinners lost to Whippet for whom Gordon Richards scored 15.

Division 2:-Abbey Saints overcame Ormskirk Farmers thanks to 16 points from Barbara Flaherty. 19 points from Rob Jones helped Gang of Four to victory over Ormskirk Tennis Club for whom Paul Prior scored 16.  Parbold Exiles won their game against Ormskirk Theatre Company; Jim Dawber scored 16 for the winners and Alan Thompson 17 for the losers, Jacqui Birchall's 16 points assured a win for OCC over Legion Lions.

Service for Tony

A service for Tony Grieco will be held at St Anne's RC Church in Ormskirk on Friday September 30th at 7 pm. Donations in memory of Tony will be given to HCPT.
