The 2026-2027 season will begin on Monday September 7 with all twelve teams playing each other in one division.

A Handicap League will also be based on these results.

Two divisions will be formed post Christmas.

The Don Liptrot Trophy, a handicap knockout with a Plate, will run on two nights pre Christmas leading to semi finals and finals on Monday March 22.

A Pairs competition will be held as part of a Presentation Evening at the Stanley Arms on Monday April 5.

Most teams are on the lookout for new players and spectators are welcome at all matches.

HIghlights Week 1

A remarkable 26 points from Paul McAteer helped Delph Tavern to a draw with Scarecrows for whom Barry Marshall scored 16 and Janet Crompton 12; Scarecrows won on handicap however. Despite 14 points from Rob Jones, Hayfield Gang lost to Colly Wobblers, all of whose players scored in double figures led by Mike Unsworth’s 17 points. All of Turks Head Saints players scored in double figures too, ensuring a win over Ormskirk Theatre Company for whom Alan Thompson scored 12. Despite 22 points and a full house from John Wilson and 16 from Brian Farrimond, Greyhound lost to Newburgh Lions, for whom Darren Martin scored 16 and Jim Maloney 15. An impressive 23 points from Bill Gerrard earned a win for Turks Head Sinners over Helenians, for whom Mike Flaherty scored 14. Rugby Hounds, for whom Eric Lupton scored 14 and Colin MacDonald and David Hodgson 13 each, overcame Benchwarmers; Rob Green scored 16 for Benchwarmers.

The handicap scores on these matches were reversed.

MQL Presentation Night

Congratulations to Newburgh Lions who beat Turks Head Sinners 51-40 to win the MQL Feeny Cup. Darren Martin with 20 and Gareth Flynn with 15 were the highest scorers for the winners.

This is the fourth time that Ormskirk teams have won both the Feeny Cup and the Rendon Cup in the same year.

Pat Gibson won the MQL MIMIR Trophy for a record ninth time.

Feeny Cup

Turks Head Sinners beat Wings (S&F) 52-51 in the second semi-final. Leading scorers were Peter Duffy with 19 and Dave Waddilove with 16.

The final will be played at the Stanley Arms in Aughton next Wednesday May 20 as part of the MQL Presentation Night.

The MIMIR final featuring Pat Gibson, aiming for a record ninth title, will also take place.

Rendon Cup

Congratulations to Rugby Hounds who have won the MQL Rendon Cup. This follows the success of Turks Head Saints who won in the previous two seasons.

The opponents in the semi-final were St Francis of Assisi (Liverpool) who were beaten 45-40. Eric Lupton led the scoring with 19 points which included seven of his own questions.

Another Liverpool team St Patricks were beaten 43-39 in the final, Eric again leading the way with another 19.

The Cup will be presented at the MQL Presentation Night on May 20 at the Stanley Arms in Aughton.

Feeny Cup

Newburgh Lions beat Soapsuds (Wirral) 56-41 with all four players achieving double figure scores led by Darren Martin (18) and Gareth Flynn (15).

Turks Head Sinners beat Casablanca (S&F) 52-45. Dave Waddilove was top scorer with 18.

Newburgh Lions reached the Final by beating Kluggers (Liverpool).
