Ormskirk again suffered two defeats in the latest evening of matches. The first match against Wirral was lost 41-49 despite 15 from Bill Gerrard. In the second match a losing bonus point was gained in a 43-47 defeat to Liverpool 2a who remain unbeaten at the top of the league. Bill Gerrard was again the highest scorer with 18.

Cup:- Rugby Hounds clawed back the two point advantage on Newburgh Lions to finish level; Darren Martin scored 20 for Newburgh while Eric Lupton (13) and David Hodgson (12) scored well for Rugby Hounds. Turks Head Saints overcame the 3 point advantage on Ormskirk Theatre Company to win by 9, thanks to 17 points from Kevin Walton and 18 from Charles Johnson. Despite 18 points from Paul McAteer, the Delph Tavern couldn’t hold on to their one point handicap lead over Colly Wobblers who won by three; Ian Barlow (15), Andy McGowan (12) and Mike Unsworth (19) scored well for the winners.
Plate:- Despite 18 points and a full house from Brian Farrimond and 15 from Ritchie Venner, Greyhound just fell short of catching Hayfield Gang’s 26 point start losing by two points in the end; Matt Cochrane scored 13 for the winners. Helenians began with a seven point advantage over Scarecrows but stretched that to a 16 point win; Dave Boyd scored 14 for the winners and Janet Crompton 13 for the losers.

Ormskirk moved to the top of the table, continuing their unbeaten run. In the first match Warrington were ahead by four points after five rounds, but a strong finish saw Ormskirk win 49-41. All four players scored in double figures, including Darren Martin on his return to the team after a long absence. Pat Gibson top scored with 17. In the second match, against Wirral, Ormskirk were ahead throughout, winning 53-37. Pat Gibson scored 18, supported by John Wilson with 16.
