Newburgh Lions assume top place in the table after their win over Turks Head Sinners; Darren Martin (16) and John Purslow (12) scored well for the winners while Bill Gerrard (15) and Francis Williams (12) did likewise for the Sinners. Despite an impressive 20 points from Charles Johnson, Turks Head Saints lost to Delph Tavern, for whom Paul McAteer scored 17 and Sue Perks 14. Hayfield Gang recorded a much needed win over Benchwarmers; Matt Cochrane scored 14 for the winners and Rob Green scored 13 and Andy Milne 12 for Benchwarmers. Despite 18 points from Gordon Richards, Ormskirk Theatre Company lost to Scarecrows for whom Janet Crompton scored 15. Helenians, thanks to 16 from Mike Flaherty, narrowly beat Colly Wobblers, for whom Roy Atherton scored 12. In all the above matches the handicap result was unchanged. 17 points from Brian Farrimond and 16 from John Wilson earned Greyhound a win over Rugby Hounds, for whom Eric Lupton scored 17; after handicaps were applied the result was reversed.
Next week sees the top two meeting to decide the title. Three teams are in contention at the top of the Handicap League table.
