Ormskirk teams occupy the top three places in the table after three rounds of matches. Unison lead Greyhound on points difference by one, both with 100% records. Colly Wobblers are in third, two points behind. All three teams won this week on a very hard quiz. Unison beat Oxton Combined (Wirral) 36-29. Greyhound beat Bishop Eton (Liverpool) 37-22 including 20 points from John Wilson. Colly Wobblers beat Wings (S&F) 47-31 including 19 points from Pat Gibson.

Whippet remain top after their win over Ormskirk Tennis Club; they overcame an 8 point deficit to win by 17, thanks to good scores from Peter Duffy (18), Gordon Richards (17) and Debbie Davidson (15). Despite 23 points and a full house from Pat Gibson, Colly Wobblers lost to Unison, for whom Charles Johnson scored 17 and Allan Gibbs 16. Robin Hood had a two point deficit on Gang of Four but finished 17 points ahead thanks to 18 from Paul Coffey. Despite 20 points from Eric Lupton, Rugby Hounds were unable to overcome Ormskirk Theatre Company’s 11 point start, who as result recorded their first win

Whippet reclaimed top spot after their win over Gang of Four who had a 9 point start; Brian Yates scored 17 for the winners and Ann Frank contributed 16 to Gang of Four’s score. An impressive 24 points from Pat Gibson, 17 from Gary Grant and 15 from Mike Unsworth enabled Colly Wobblers to pull back Ormskirk Theatre Company’s 23 point start. An equally impressive 23 points form Janet Crompton helped Squigglers overcome Ormskirk Tennis Club’s 2 point start; Paul Prior scoring 18 for the losing team. Rugby Hounds, for whom Eric Lupton scored 20, overturned Robin Hood’s 3 point start winning by four; Iain Smith scored 15 for Robin Hood.

Greyhound team secretary Andy Francis passed away overnight on Friday after a short stay in Southport Hospital. Condolences to his family and friends.

Ormskirk completed an unbeaten season with wins in the final two matches. In the first match Wirral were beaten 47-41 with 20 from Pat Gibson and 15 from John Wilson. Pat did even better in a 50-33 win against Southport & Formby, scoring 25 including 7 of his own 8 questions.
