Robin Hood had a one point start on Colly Wobblers but ended up clear winners by 12 points, thanks to 20 from Paul McAteer and 16 from Sue Perks. Scarecrows started level on handicap against Ormskirk Tennis Club, but emerged the winners with Barry Marshall scoring 18 for them, while Paul Prior added an impressive 21 points to the Tennis Club’s score. Turks Head Saints began with a four point start on Rugby Hounds but ended up losing by 12; David Hodgson (19) and Eric Lupton (16) top scored for the winners, while Kevin Walton and Barbara Flaherty both scored 14 for the Saints. Hayfield Gang had a 3 point start against Helenians, and just won by a single point; high scorers were Mike Flaherty (14) and Bob Foster (13) for Helenians and Martin Burke (13) for Hayfield Gang.

Ormskirk retained the Trophy completing an unbeaten season. The first match against Liverpool was very close. Liverpool were ahead after Round 6. Ormskirk won Round 7 by 9-4. With two questions remaining Ormskirk had a one point lead. Both players answered correctly, resulting in a 45-44 victory in which Pat Gibson scored 18 points. The second match against Southport & Formby was less close. Pat Gibson and John Wilson both contributed 16 points in a 49-34 win. Ormskirk has won the Trophy for five consecutive seasons.

Division 2 :- Four postponed matches were played this week. In the first Ormskirk Theatre Company, despite 16 points from Alan Thompson and 13 from Gordon Richards, lost to Bispham Eagles. In their second postponed match Ormskirk Theatre Company fared better, beating Aughton Institute; Alan Thompson (15) and Gordon Richards (13) scored well for the winners. In their second game Bispham Eagles won again, this time beating Benchwarmers with Dave Lyons top scoring with 16 points. Turks Head Saints extended their lead at the top as they won against Hayfield Gang; Kevin Walton (14) and Barbara Flaherty (13) top scored for the winners and Martin Burke scored 14 for Hayfield.
As a result of these four games, Ormskirk Theatre Company finish top of the Handicap League by a single point from Bispham Eagles, so congratulations go to both teams.

Ormskirk won one and lost one of their final two matches, completing the season as runner up to Wirral, both teams winning six of their eight matches, separated only by a points difference of 26 against 41.
In the first match Warrington were beaten 40-35 led by 21 points from Bill Gerrard. The second match resulted in a 40-49 defeat to Liverpool 2a.
