Division 1:- All the top teams won this week. Old Dog scored a massive 67 points against Gang of Four; Ray Oakes top-scored with 21 and Pat Gibson contributed 20, answering all his own questions again. Unison had a comfortable win against Farmers Arms despite 20 points by Charles Johnson for the losers. Alan Gibbs scored 21 for Wheatsheaf in their win against Rugby Hounds despite a contribution of 22 from David Hodgson. Other high scores were 20 by Janet Crompton for Squigglers in a closer win over Ormskirk Tennis Club and 22 for Mike Unsworth of Colly Wobblers against Helenians.
Division 2:- Wins for Abbey Saints, Abbey Sinners and Whippet saw them close up at the top to Newburgh Lions who had a free week. Benchwarmers moved away from the bottom with a good win against OCC. Bob Edge had the top score of the week with 19 for Whippet against Ormskirk Theatre Company.

Division 1. Comfortable wins for the top two with Pat Gibson answering all his own questions top scoring with 19 points for Old Dog against Farmers Arms and Peter Duffy with 18 for Unison against Greyhound. Eric Lupton also scored 18 for Rugby Hounds who were victorious over Ormskirk Tennis Club and Dave Boyd with 17 for Helenians in a good win against Gang of Four.
Division 2. Newburgh Lions kept their unbeaten run going with a one point win over Whippet on a rather unsatisfactory Tuesday set; Robin McIntosh top scoring with 19 points for the Lions. Comfortable wins for Abbey Saints over Aughton Institute and Abbey Sinners against Benchwarmers keeps them in second and third positions. A second win for Ormskirk Farmers moves them away from the bottom and they still have several postponed games to play.

The second matches in the group stages are on Wednesday. In Group 1 Unison visit Aigburth People in Liverpool. In Group 2 Wheatsheaf visit Wallaseyans from Wirral. In Group 4 Colly Wobblers entertain Zetland from Southport & Formby. In Groups 1 and 2 both teams won their first games. In Group 4 both teams lost their first games.

Division 1 Monday games produced a surprise result with Squigglers beating Unison by 1 point largely due to an impressive 25 points by Janet Crompton. Wheatsheaf had an easy win over Gang of Four with Dave Waddilove scoring 21 for Wheatsheaf. Tuesday's set favoured the teams going in first; with comfortable wins for Colly Wobblers over Rugby Hounds and Old Dog against Greyhound. Ormskirk Tennis Club came out on top against Robin Hood who are having a bad run.
Division 2 In the battle of the Lions, Newburgh Lions beat Red Lion (Burscough) and increased their lead at the top over Abbey Saints who had a free week. Abbey Sinners consolidated 3rd position with a comfortable win over Ormskirk Theatre Company; Bill Gerrard scoring 20 points for rhe winners. Whippet are 4th after a good team performance against OCC.
