MIMIR Trophy

Players and spectators from eight teams enjoyed a full night's quizzing at the Greyhound on Wednesday.

John Wilson retained the trophy. The scores in the final were John 17, Pat Gibson 14, Bill Gerrard 12 and Andy McGowan 6. Bill and Andy are first-time finalists.

The finalists and three of the losing semi-finalists qualify for the Merseyside heat next month.

Presentation Night

Unfortunately we have had to move the venue. This will now take place at Unison Club in St Helens on April 18th.

Highlights Catchup Week

Division 1:- Greyhound won a tight encounter with a depleted Newburgh Lions team; John Wilson and David Sinclair each scoring 23 points for the winners and losers respectively

Division 2:- 19 points from Alan Thompson helped Ormskirk Theatre Company overcome Red Lion Bulldogs for whom Steve Garrett scored 16 points.

Merseyside Challenge Cup

Colly Wobblers and Unison both won their matches in the quarter finals. They now meet in the semi finals next month.

Colly Wobblers beat Wings from Southport 47-38 with Mike Unsworth scoring 17. Unison beat Wallaseyans from Wirral in a close game 44-42, taking the lead for the first time by winning round seven 8-2, Darren Martin leading the way with 21.

Highlights Week 18

Division 1:- With Unison not playing Colly Wobblers assumed top spot with a win over Newburgh Lions; Pat Gibson registered 18 points and a ‘full house’ for the winners while John Purslow (16) and Jim Maloney (15) led the scoring for the losers. 15 points from David Hodgson helped Rugby Hounds to victory over Abbey Sinners. Squigglers won the day against Abbey Saints thanks to 15 from Janet Crompton. 17 from Andy Francis helped Greyhound beat Robin Hood.

Division 2:- Whippet stay top after beating Parbold Exilles.  Ormskirk Tennis Club continued their excellent run and move into second place after beating a depleted Gang of Four; Paul Prior scored 18 for the winners.   In other matches OCC beat Red Lion Bulldogs and Ormskirk Theatre Company overcame Aughton Institute.
