Congratulations to Pat Gibson (Colly Wobblers) who won the Individual title. Pat also won the Pairs competition with Kevin Ashman. Pat and Kevin were two of the four members of the England team that won the Nations Cup.

The second round of matches in the group stage saw differing fortunes for Ormskirk teams - two very comfortable wins, but two three point defeats. Unison won their second match, beating Wandering Star (Liverpool) 39-16 with Darren Martin scoring 18. Colly Wobblers could not quite manage a second win, going down 28-31 to Yarboroughs (Warrington), although they gained one point in the table for a close defeat.
Greyhound won their first match 45-25 against Wallaseyans (Wirral). A score of 23 by John Wilson was the highlight of a night of low individual scores. Abbey Sinners went down 25-28 to Aigburth People (Liverpool) gaining one point in the table for the close defeat.
The final round of matches in the group stage to be played next month will decide which teams qualify for the Cup and which play in the Plate.

Division 1:- An impressive 24 points from David Sinclair greatly helped Newburgh Lions overcome Ormskirk Tennis Club for whom Phil McConnell scored an equally impressive 20 points. Janet Crompton’s 16 points was a factor in Squigglers’ draw with Rugby Hounds, all of whom’s players registered double figure scores. 17 points each from Charles Johnson and Darren Martin, saw Unison home against Robin Hood. Colly Wobblers, for whom Mike Unsworth scored 15, lost to Whippet, thanks to an excellent 21 points from Debbie Davidson. John Wilson (16) and Ritchie Venner (15) led the scoring for Greyhound in their win over Helenians; Dave Boyd replied with 15 points.
Division 2 :- Gang of Four remain undefeated after their win over Parbold Exiles. 14 points from Barbara Flaherty ensured Abbey Saints to a comfortable win over Benchwarmers. Bill Gerrard’s 19 points greatly helped a three man Abbey Sinners overcome Ormskirk Farmers. Legion Lions had a narrow victory over Ormskirk Theatre Company for whom Alan Thompson scored 13.

Division 1:- Colly Wobblers remain top after their win over Ormskirk Tennis Club; Andy McGowan (20) and Mike Unsworth (16) led the scoring for the winners, while Dave Gordon replied with 16 for the Tennis Club In a very high scoring game in which the losers scored 52, Greyhound beat Whippet; John Wilson (18 and a full house) and Peter Gateley (16) scored well for Greyhound while Debbie Davidson (18) and Gordon Richards (15) replied for Whippet. Unison, thanks to 19 points from Alan Gibbs beat Helenians. 18 points from David Sinclair and 16 from John Purslow helped Newburgh Lions narrowly overcome Rugby Hounds for whom David Hodgson scored 16. Robin Hood, thanks to 21 from Paul Coffey beat Squigglers.
Division 2 :- A three man Gang of Four, for whom Andrew Sackville scored 20, stay top after beating Benchwarmers; Mike Wall scored 14 for Benchwarmers. An impressive 20 points from Alan Thompson greatly helped Ormskirk Theatre Company overcome Parbold Exiles. 13 points each from Dave Berrington and Gerrard Molyneux helped Ormskirk Farmers to another win, this time beating Legion Lions; Steve Garrett scoring 19 for the Legion. A massive 24 points from Francis Williams was a major factor in Abbey Sinners’ win over Aughton Institute.

Division 1:- On Monday all the teams who went first won. Unison, despite 16 from Charles Johnson lost to Whippet, for whom Debbie Davidson also scored 16. 18 points from Jim Maloney helped Newburgh Lions overcome Squigglers. Also Helenians beat Robin Hood. 20 points from Pat Gibson greatly helped Colly Wobblers who beat Rugby Hounds. John Wilson’s 20 points ensured Greyhound’s win over Ormskirk Tennis Club for whom Phil McConnell scored 16.
Division 2 :- In the top of the table clash, Gang of Four, thanks to 14 points from Andrew Sackville, narrowly beat Abbey Saints for whom Kevin Walton scored 15. As a result Gang of Four return to the top and remain unbeaten. Ian Bakewell’s 15 points was a major factor in Aughton Institute’s win over Legion Lions. An excellent 17 points from Frank Molyneux enabled Ormskirk Farmers’ win over Parbold Exiles. Benchwarmers lost to Ormskirk Theatre Company thanks to 15 points from Alan Thompson.
