Division 1:- 22 points and a ‘full house’ from Pat Gibson greatly helped Colly Wobblers’ win over Newburgh Lions for whom Dave Sinclair scored 16. Unison, thanks to 19 from Darren Martin, overcame Helenians. 17 points from Barry Marshall and 15 from Janet Crompton was a major factor in Squigglers’ win over Robin Hood; Tom Evans (16) and Mike Preston (15) led the scoring for the Robin. 18 points from David Hodgson aided Rugby Hounds win over Whippet. The mini-leagues have now concluded; league 1A was won by Greyhound and league 1B by Ormskirk Tennis Club so congratulations to them.
Division 2 :- Abbey Sinners had the narrowest of wins over Gang of Four; Francis Williams scored 15 for the winners while Rob Jones replied with 18 for the losing team. 22 points from Barbara Flaherty greatly helped Abbey Saints overcome Ormskirk Farmers for whom Gary Lambert scored 14. An impressive 23 points and a ‘full house’ from Steve Garrett saw Legion Lions achieve a good win over Parbold Exiles. Douglas Valley Lions achieved yet another win this time beating a three man Aughton Institute thanks to a splendid 24 points from Brian Thomas; Douglas Valley Lions therefore finish a very creditable second in their mini-league Congratulations to Gang of Four who won league 2A and Parbold Exiles who won 2B

Division 1:- Greyhound made it four wins out of four with their victory over Helenians, John Wilson scored 21 for the winners and Mike Flaherty replied with the same score for Helenians. 15 points from Darren Martin helped Unison overcome Newburgh Lions. 21 points from Paul Prior secured Ormskirk Tennis Club’s win over Squigglers for whom Barry Marshall scored 20. In the other game Whippet beat Robin Hood.
Division 2 :- 14 points from Ann Frank enabled Gang of Four’s win over Ormskirk Farmers, 13 points each from Bill Gerrard and Francis Williams helped Abbey Sinners’ overcome Ormskirk Theatre Company. 17 points from Steve Garrett wasn’t quite enough for Legion Lions to beat Aughton Institute.

The final of the Merseyside Challenge Cup will be between two Ormskirk teams, Colly Wobblers (the holders) and Unison. Colly Wobblers beat Yarboroughs (Warrington) 47-42 thanks to 15 from Pat Gibson. Unison beat fellow Ormskirk team Greyhound 49-44 with Darren Martin scoring 19. The final will be held at the MQL Finals Night on May 16th at Unison.
