Ormskirk were successful in both matches in the final evening before the mid-season break. In the first match Wirral were beaten 42-34. Bill Gerrard led the scoring with 18 points. Liverpool 2B were then beaten 40-27 with Bill again leading the way with 24. Ormskirk now lead the table jointly with Wirral. Both teams have 10 points from 8 matches.

Division 1 :-Unison lost for the second consecutive week and as a result surrender top place; Ormskirk Tennis Club, thanks to 18 from Paul Prior and 15 from Keith Mountain, won the day; Darren Martin added 16 to Unison’s score. Despite 15 points each from Kevin Walton and Barbara Flaherty, Abbey Saints lost narrowly to Greyhound who now assume top spot in the table. 17 from Pat Gibson and 15 from Mike Unsworth saw Colly Wobblers overcome Helenians in a tight contest; all eight players registered double figure scores in this game. 17 points from Jim Maloney saw Newburgh Lions win by the narrowest of margins over Squigglers. Robin Hood overcame a three man Whippet for whom Brian Yates scored 16.
Division 2 :- Abbey Sinners maintained their 100% record for the season with a comfortable win over Bispham Farmers Arms; Francis Williams (19) and Bill Gerrard (18) scored well for the winners, while Jim Dawber replied with 14 for Bispham. Rugby Hounds beat Benchwarmers and stay second; David Hodgson (17), Eric Lupton (13) and Bruce Covey (12) led the scoring for the winners while Rob Green (13) and Mike Wall (12) did similarly for Benchwarmers. Alan Thompson’s 15 points secured Ormskirk Theatre Company’s narrow victory over Ormskirk Farmers. Legion Lions, thanks to 15 from Steve Garrett and 14 from Adrian Disley earned Legion Lions a win over Aughton Institute, for whom John Hesketh scored 12.

Ormskirk won both matches on the third evening of the competition and sit level with Liverpool on 10 points from 6 matches. The first match saw a close 42-38 win against Warrington with Pat Gibson scoring 15. The second win against Wirral was more comfortable 52-37 with Pat scoring 20 and John Wilson 15.

Division 1 :- Unison’s 100% run finally came to an end but they remain top after a defeat to Colly Wobblers; all eight players registered double figure scores. Greyhound stay second on points difference after their win over Ormskirk Tennis Club; John Wilson scored 18 for the winners while Paul Prior replied with 23 points for the Tennis Club. Squigglers finally won their first game of the season beating Helenians; Janet Crompton scored a remarkable 26 points for Squigglers. 15 points each from Kevin Walton and Barbara Flaherty helped Abbey Saints to a win over Robin Hood for whom Mike Preston scored 17. Whippet, after leading throughout, lost the final round 7-1 and as a result succumbed to Newburgh Lions, for whom David Sinclair scored an impressive 25 points.
Division 2 :- Abbey Sinners regained top spot after their win over Gang of Four; Bill Gerrard scored 20 for the winners. Rugby Hounds are in second place with their victory over Ormskirk Theatre Company; David Hodgson scoring 20 for the winners and Alan Thompson replied with 16 for the losers. 15 points from Mike Wall and 13 from Rob Green helped Benchwarmers win the day against Legion Lions and as a result move off the bottom of the table. Bispham Farmers Arms beat a 3 man Ormskirk Farmers; Jim Dawber contributed 16 to Bispham's score while Phil Roberts scored 19 for Ormskirk Farmers.
