Ormskirk began the defence of the Trophy with two wins. In the first match Warrington were beaten 61-27 with John Wilson and Pat Gibson(both 17) and Gary Grant (16) scoring highly. The second match, against Liverpool, was very close until round 7. Ormskirk won 52-45 with Pat Gibson (17) and John Wilson (15) again scoring well.

Division 1 :- Unison regain top spot and are the only unbeaten team in division one, after their win over Turks Head Sinners; Darren Martin (15) and Peter Duffy (17) top scored for Unison and the Sinners respectively. Rugby Hounds surrendered top place and are now in second after losing to Colly Wobblers for whom Sophie Quinlan scored 15 and Mike Unsworth 18; Eric Lupton (16) top scored for Rugby Hounds. 19 points each from Janet Crompton and Barry Marshall enabled Scarecrows’ first win of the season over Newburgh Lions, for whom Jim Maloney scored 17. Similarly Robin Hood registered their first win by beating Greyhound; Tom Evans scored 17 for the winners and John Wilson 19 for Greyhound.
Division 2 :- Ormskirk Tennis Club remain unbeaten and top of the table after their victory over Ormskirk Theatre Company; Paul Prior (22) made his usual sizeable contribution to the winners score while Gordon Richards scored 13 for the Theatre Company. 15 points from Matt Cochrane and 17 from Rob Jones helped Hayfield Gang overcome Aughton Institute. Helenians assumed second place after their win over Benchwarmers; Mike Flaherty (15) and Alf Westwell (13) top scored for the winners, while Mike Wall scored 12 for Benchwarmers.

Division 1 :- Rugby Hounds assume top spot after their convincing win over Robin Hood; Eric Lupton scored an impressive 20 points for the winners. Unison are second on points difference; they had a narrower victory over Scarecrows, for whom Janet Crompton scored 18 while Darren Martin registered 20 points for the winners. 16 points from David Sinclair enabled Newburgh Lions’ comfortable win over Colly Wobblers. In the other game Greyhound lost to Turks Head Sinners, who now occupy third place.
Division 2 :- A remarkable 26 points from Paul Prior was the major factor in Ormskirk Tennis Club’s win over Bispham Eagles; as a result the Tennis Club assume top spot. Turks Head Saints are second after their narrowest of victories over Hayfield Gang; Rob Jones scored an impressive 23 points for Hayfield while Kevin Walton (15), Clive Walton (12) and Barbara Flaherty (14) scored well for the winners. Despite an excellent 22 points from Alan Thompson, Ormskirk Theatre Company lost by a single point to Benchwarmers, for whom Mike Wall scored 13. In the other game Aughton Institute had the narrowest of wins over Helenians.
