Highlights Week 6

Division 1 :- Old Dog stay top after a comfortable win over Helenians, Andy Page scored 17 points for the winners. In a closer game Rugby Hounds, thanks to 19 from David Hodgson, beat Newburgh Lions, for whom Jim Maloney also scored 19. Unison got back to winning ways with a victory over Robin Hood; Darren Martin 21 and Alan Gibbs 15 were the main contributors for the winners. Ormskirk Tennis Club won their first game of the season with a win over Colly Wobblers in a low scoring game

Division 2 : Abbey Sinners, thanks to 19 from Francis Sephton and 15 from Bill Gerard, maintain their 100% record with a win over Ormskirk Farmers. Gang of Four had a convincing win over Red Lion Bulldogs, Rob Jones scoring 15 points for the winners. A tough Tuesday quiz saw Abbey Saints staying in second place by beating Ormskirk Theatre Company; while Whippet overcame OCC.

Highlights Week 5

Division 1 :- The question set on Monday strongly favoured the team going first, especially in the second half. 15 points from Roy Atherton and 16 from Sue Perks saw Robin Hood win against Farmers Arms for whom Charles Johnson scored 15. Helenians recorded their first win beating Unison thanks to 16 points from Alf Westwell. Janet Crompton’s 17 points assured Squigglers a victory over Newburgh Lions. Old Dog remain top after a comfortable victory over Greyhound, Pat Gibson contributing 20 points to Old Dog’s score. All four players for Rugby Hounds scored double figures against Ormskirk Tennis Club.

Division 2 :- Abbey Saints move to the top of the table after an easy win over Red Lion Bulldogs, who only had two players, Clive Walton scored 15 for the Saints. An impressive 20 points from Val Hyson saw OCC victorious over Ormskirk Farmers. Gang of Four had a comfortable win over Parbold Exiles thanks to 16 points from Mal Jones. Aughton Institute recorded their first win beating Ormskirk Theatre Company for whom Alan Thompson scored 16; Gordon Richards scored 17 for Aughton.

Challenge Cup

Both Ormskirk teams had successful starts to their Merseyside Challenge Cup campaigns, with Unison defeating Warrington champions Yarboroughs and Colly Wobblers overcoming Wandering Star from the Liverpool League.  

Highlights Week 4

Division 1 :- Old Dog are top of the league after a comfortable win over Squigglers; Pat Gibson scored 19 and Ray Oakes 15 for Old Dog. Newburgh maintained their 100% start to the season after a win over Ormskirk Tennis Club; Jim Maloney scoring 19 for the winners. An impressive 20 points and a full house from Madeline Evans played a significant part in Unison’s comfortable victory over Greyhound. Farmers Arms overcame Helenians thanks to 18 points from Charles Johnson. 

Division 2 : Abbey Sinners stay top after their win over Gang of Four for whom Rob Jones scored 17, Francis Williams scored 16 for the Sinners. Abbey Saints are second after their win over Parbold Exiles; Kevin Walton scoring 17 for the winners and Jim Dawber 19 for the losers. Aughton Institute drew with Red Lion Bulldogs, Gordon Richards contributing 16 points for Aughton. Ormskirk Theatre Company maintain their promising start with a win over Benchwarmers thanks to 17 points from Alan Thompson. 16 points from Brian Yates helped Whippet overcome Ormskirk Farmers.

Presidents Trophy

Ormskirk had a successful start to their defence of the trophy with a convincing 43-29 win over Warrington, with Pat Gibson scoring an impressive 21 points.  The next game is on October 29th when the team travel to Christ the King Parish Club in Childwall to play Liverpool.
