Highlights Week 7

Division 1 :- Old Dog remain undefeated after their win over Robin Hood; Ray Oakes was the top scorer with 17 points. Colly Wobblers overcame Newburgh Lions and in the third game in division1, (two matches having been postponed), Ormskirk Tennis Club recorded their second successive victory, beating Farmers Arms; Paul Prior scoring an impressive 20 points for the Tennis Club.

Division 2 :- All four players for Abbey Saints registered double figure scores with Barbara Flaherty scoring 15, to help Abbey Saints to a comfortable win over Aughton Institute and move to the top of the league on points difference. Dave Cockram’s 18 points helped Parbold Exiles to victory over Ormskirk Farmers. 17 points from Bill Gerard helped Abbey Sinners maintain their 100% record, beating Whippet for whom Brian Yates scored 18. OCC had an easy win over Benchwarmers, Colin Hyson scoring 15 for the winners. Ormskirk Theatre Company had one of their best ever victories when they comfortably beat Gang of Four, winning six of the eight rounds, with Alan Thompson scoring 16 points.

Highlights Week 6

Division 1 :- Old Dog stay top after a comfortable win over Helenians, Andy Page scored 17 points for the winners. In a closer game Rugby Hounds, thanks to 19 from David Hodgson, beat Newburgh Lions, for whom Jim Maloney also scored 19. Unison got back to winning ways with a victory over Robin Hood; Darren Martin 21 and Alan Gibbs 15 were the main contributors for the winners. Ormskirk Tennis Club won their first game of the season with a win over Colly Wobblers in a low scoring game

Division 2 : Abbey Sinners, thanks to 19 from Francis Sephton and 15 from Bill Gerard, maintain their 100% record with a win over Ormskirk Farmers. Gang of Four had a convincing win over Red Lion Bulldogs, Rob Jones scoring 15 points for the winners. A tough Tuesday quiz saw Abbey Saints staying in second place by beating Ormskirk Theatre Company; while Whippet overcame OCC.

Highlights Week 5

Division 1 :- The question set on Monday strongly favoured the team going first, especially in the second half. 15 points from Roy Atherton and 16 from Sue Perks saw Robin Hood win against Farmers Arms for whom Charles Johnson scored 15. Helenians recorded their first win beating Unison thanks to 16 points from Alf Westwell. Janet Crompton’s 17 points assured Squigglers a victory over Newburgh Lions. Old Dog remain top after a comfortable victory over Greyhound, Pat Gibson contributing 20 points to Old Dog’s score. All four players for Rugby Hounds scored double figures against Ormskirk Tennis Club.

Division 2 :- Abbey Saints move to the top of the table after an easy win over Red Lion Bulldogs, who only had two players, Clive Walton scored 15 for the Saints. An impressive 20 points from Val Hyson saw OCC victorious over Ormskirk Farmers. Gang of Four had a comfortable win over Parbold Exiles thanks to 16 points from Mal Jones. Aughton Institute recorded their first win beating Ormskirk Theatre Company for whom Alan Thompson scored 16; Gordon Richards scored 17 for Aughton.

Challenge Cup

Both Ormskirk teams had successful starts to their Merseyside Challenge Cup campaigns, with Unison defeating Warrington champions Yarboroughs and Colly Wobblers overcoming Wandering Star from the Liverpool League.
