In the first match in the defence of the title Ormskirk beat Liverpool by 45 points to 44. John Wilson scored 17 points.

Two Ormskirk teams begin their Merseyside Challenge Cup campaigns on 14th October, with Colly Wobblers away at Oxton Cons of the Wirral League and Unison at home to Aigburth People of the Liverpool League.

Division 1:- In a close game Abbey Saints, with 17 points from Barbara Flaherty, beat Helenians. Bill Gerrard’s 15 points helped Abbey Sinners to their first win over Newburgh Lions. Greyhound got their season under way with a win over Squigglers thanks to a massive 25 points and ‘full house’ from John Wilson; Janet Crompton scored 17 for Squigglers. 15 points from Pat Gibson helped Colly Wobblers overcome Unison.
Division 2:- Whippet made it three wins in a row with a comfortable victory over OCC, Gordon Richards was top scorer with 19. Ormskirk Theatre Company registered their first win beating Benchwarmers thanks to 19 points from Alan Thompson. In the Tuesday game Parbold Exiles beat Aughton Institute.

Division 1:- In a game where all eight players posted double figure scores, Colly Wobblers beat Abbey Saints, thanks to 19 points and a ‘full house’ from Pat Gibson and 15 from Andy McGowan. 23 points from Janet Crompton was the main contributor to Squigglers score as they narrowly beat ‘new comers’ Abbey Sinners. Unison thanks to 19 from Darren Martin and 16 from Alan Gibbs beat Rugby Hounds for whom Eric Lupton scored 17. In a close game Helenians, with all four players scoring double figures, beat Newburgh Lions for whom David Sinclair scored 18.
Division 2:- Red Lion Bulldogs drew their game with Gang of Four, Steve Garrett scoring 19 for Red Lion. The Tuesday quiz proved a lot harder. Aughton Institute narrowly beat Ormskirk Tennis Club thanks to 16 from Ian Bakewell. In the two other games Parbold Exiles, for whom Jim Dawber scored 18, beat Ormskirk Theatre Company and Whippet beat Ormskirk Farmers.
