Highlights Week 20

Division 1:- Only one of the Monday fixtures was played. In that game Rugby Hounds beat Robin Hood thanks to 15 from Eric Lupton and 16 from David Hodgson. In a close game Colly Wobblers overcame Greyhound; Pat Gibson scored 15 for the winners and John Wilson (19) and Tony Grieco (15) led the scoring for the losing team.

Division 2:- An impressive 22 points from John Hesketh greatly helped Aughton Institute record a much needed win over a depleted Ormskirk Farmers team. Ormskirk Tennis Club had a comfortable victory over Benchwarmers, Paul Prior scoring 19 for the winners.    In the other game Gang of Four beat Parbold Exiles.

With just a few matches remaining it is still very close at the top of both divisions with three teams in contention in each.

Don Liptrot Trophy

An entry window is now open for the Don Liptrot Trophy which is played using a handicap system. Old teams, new teams, hybrid teams are all welcome. The window will close on Sunday.

President's Trophy

Ormskirk beat Warrington 43-38 to retain the President's Trophy.

Highlights Week 19

Division 1:- 19  points from Steve Feller and 20 from Pat Gibson helped Colly Wobblers  overcome Abbey Sinners for whom Bill Gerrard scored 15. Unison had a comfortable victory over Squigglers; Darren Martin (18), Alan Gibbs (17) and Charles Johnson (15) led the scoring for Unison. Despite 21 points from David Hodgson, Rugby Hounds lost to Greyhound for whom John Wilson scored 18. An impressive 28 points from Dave Sinclair was the decisive factor in Newburgh Lions’ victory over Abbey Saints. Helenians beat Robin Hood; Alf Westwell scored 18 for the winners and Sue Perks 17 for the losers. 

Division 2:- Whippet stay top after beating Benchwarmers; Gordon Richards scored 16 for Whippet.  Ormskirk Theatre Company narrowly beat Ormskirk Farmers thanks to 19 from Alan Thompson. 15 points from Rob Jones helped Gang of Four overcome Aughton Institute.  Ormskirk Tennis Club beat Parbold Exiles thanks to 16 points each from Sarah Lawton and Paul Prior.

MIMIR Trophy

Players and spectators from eight teams enjoyed a full night's quizzing at the Greyhound on Wednesday.

John Wilson retained the trophy. The scores in the final were John 17, Pat Gibson 14, Bill Gerrard 12 and Andy McGowan 6. Bill and Andy are first-time finalists.

The finalists and three of the losing semi-finalists qualify for the Merseyside heat next month.
