President's Trophy

Ormskirk moved to the top of the table, continuing their unbeaten run. In the first match Warrington were ahead by four points after five rounds, but a strong finish saw Ormskirk win 49-41. All four players scored in double figures, including Darren Martin on his return to the team after a long absence. Pat Gibson top scored with 17. In the second match, against Wirral, Ormskirk were ahead throughout, winning 53-37. Pat Gibson scored 18, supported by John Wilson with 16.

Highlights Week 11

Greyhound, thanks to 20 points and a full house from Ritchie Venner and 16 points from Lynne Ashcroft finish, top after their win over  Scarecrows, for whom Eric Ray scored 15 and Janet Crompton 13. 13 points each from Darren Martin and Jim Maloney assured Newburgh Lions’ victory over Helenians, for whom Bob Foster scored 12; Helenians won on handicap however.  As a result Newburgh Lions finish second on points difference. Despite an impressive 22 points from Charles Johnson, Turks Head Saints lost to Turks Head Sinners, for whom Bill Gerrard scored 17; the Saints won on handicap scores however. In a game where all eight players registered double figure scores, Delph Tavern beat Colly Wobblers and finish third in the table; Paul McAteer (15), Mike Preston (14) and Sue Perks (13) scored well for the winners, while Steve Feller (13), Roy Atherton and Andy McGowan 12 each, did likewise for the losers. The Delph also won on handicap. Despite 15 points from Rob Jones, Hayfield Gang lost to Rugby Hounds, for whom Eric Lupton scored 13 and David Hodgson 18.

Newburgh Lions win the Handicap League. Three teams, Delph Tavern, Hayfield Gang and Scarecrows tied for second place. 

Final week of the first part of the season

With the final week of the first part of the season to come Greyhound and Newburgh Lions share first place on 16 points with Greyhound ahead on points difference. Three points separate the next five teams. Delph Tavern and Colly Wobblers both have 11 points - they play each other. Scarecrows and Rugby Hounds are one point behind on 10 points with Turks Head Sinners a further two points behind on 8 points, but with a superior points difference.

Highlights Week 10

Greyhound remain top on points difference, after their win over Ormskirk Theatre Company, John Wilson (17) and Brian Farrimond (12) top scored for the winners. 17 points from Darren Martin and 12 from Jim Maloney helped Newburgh Lions to a comfortable victory over Hayfield Gang, for whom Rob Jones scored 12; Newburgh also won on handicap scores. 17 points from Janet Crompton and 12 from Barry Marshall earned Scarecrows a narrow win over Colly Wobblers, for whom Mike Unsworth scored 16; Scarecrows also won on handicap. Delph Tavern climb to third in the table after their win over Turks Head Sinners, for whom Bill Gerrard scored an impressive 21 points; Tom Evans scored 16 for the winners who also won on handicap. Despite 14 points from Kevin Walton, Turks Head Saints lost to Helenians, who also won on handicap.
