Ormskirk Quiz League

Division 1:- Greyhound ceded top of the table after their loss to Newburgh Lions; Darren Martin scored 16 for the winners and John Wilson 17 for Greyhound.   Colly Wobblers, for whom Mike Unsworth scored 16, move to the top  after their win over Delph Tavern. Despite 19 points from Bill Gerrard, Turks Head Sinners lost to Rugby Hounds, for whom Eric Lupton scored 18. 

Division 2:-  An impressive 21 points from Janet Crompton earned Scarecrows a narrow victory over Hayfield Gang, for whom Ann Frank scored 14; as a result Scarecrows assume second place in the table. Despite 16 points from Alan Thompson, Ormskirk Theatre Company lost to Helenians, for whom Mike Flaherty scored 16 and Alf Westwell 13.

Congratulations to first-time winner Mike Unsworth (Colly Wobblers) who beat Eric Lupton (Rugby Hounds), John Wilson (Greyhound) and Bill Gerrard (Turks Head Sinners) in the final.

Unfortunately both Ormskirk teams lost their quarter final match. Greyhound were beaten 38-44 by Oxton Cons (Wirral). Colly Wobblers lost 41-46 to Cricketers (Liverpool) despite 21 points from Pat Gibson.

Division 1:- Greyhound remain clear at the top, after their comfortable win over Rugby Hounds;  Ritchie Venner (15) and Mal Collier (17) scored well for the winners. Despite 15 from Darren Martin, Newburgh Lions lost to Colly Wobblers.  Turks Head Sinners assume second place after beating Delph Tavern, thanks in the main to 21 points from Peter Duffy.

Division 2:- Thanks mainly to an impressive 24 points from Charles Johnson, Turks Head Saints remain unbeaten and top of the table after their win over Scarecrows, for whom Janet Crompton scored 16. 14 points from Rob Jones earned Hayfield Gang their first win over Helenians.
