Highlights Week 11

Division 1 :- Monday’s quiz proved to be a very high scoring one. Unison march on undefeated with a win over Robin Hood, for whom Tom Evans scored 20; Alan Gibbs (20 and a full house) and Darren Martin (18) top scored for Unison.   Also scoring a full house and 26 points was Bill Gerrard for Turks Head Sinners who overcame a still winless Helenians. Despite 26 points from Dave Sinclair, Newburgh Lions lost to Ormskirk Tennis Club, for whom Paul Prior scored 18.   Turks Head Saints lost to Colly Wobblers with Andy McGowan (15), Pat Gibson (15) and Mike Unsworth (19) leading the scoring for the winners. In the only Tuesday game, Rugby Hounds with Colin MacDonald scoring 20, beat Greyhound whose top scorer was Ritchie Venner with 16 points. 

Division 2 :- In the top of the table clash, Whippet emerged victorious in a high scoring match; Peter Duffy (20) and Debbie Davidson (17) top scored for Whippet, while Barry Marshall (18) did likewise for Squigglers. 15 points from Ann Frank and 14 from Matt Cochrane aided Gang of Four’s win over Benchwarmers, for whom Mike Wall scored 17.   Despite 21 points from Alan Thompson, Ormskirk Theatre Company lost to Legion Lions with Steve Garrett contributing 19 to the winner’s score.   15 points from Frank Molyneux and 13 from Dave Berrington assured Ormskirk Farmers’ win over Aughton Institute for whom Jim Gray scored 12.

Colly Wobblers will play home matches at the Running Horses in Orrell from January. Details are on their team page.

President’s Shield

Ormskirk won both matches by wide margins beating Warrington 43-25 and Liverpool 2B 46-31. Bill Gerrard scored 24 in both matches, the second including a full house of all his own questions. 

Highlights Week 10

Division 1 :- Unison made it ten wins out of ten with a comfortable victory over Newburgh Lions; Darren Martin (17), Charles Johnson (17) and Alan Gibbs (15) scored well for the winners while Jim Maloney added 18 to Newburgh’s score. Despite 20 points from David Hodgson, Rugby Hounds lost by the narrowest of margins to Turks Head Saints, for whom Kevin Walton scored 19.  An impressive 25 points from Bill Gerrard and 16 from Francis Williams made the difference in Turks Head Sinners’ win over Robin Hood. 17 points from Pat Gibson earned Colly Wobblers a win over Helenians. 

Division 2 :- 16 points from Alan Thompson and 12 from Steve Wright helped Ormskirk Theatre Company to an easy win over Ormskirk Farmers. The three Tuesday fixtures were postponed.
