This will take place on Wednesday April 20 at the Greyhound from 8 pm. Team secretaries have been advised of an entry window which will be open from Wednesday March 30 until Sunday April 3. The entry will be restricted to 16 players. Entries should be made to Mike Unsworth by email or phone. The draw will be published in advance of the night. The top six players will then be eligible to enter the Merseyside competition which will be played online on Wednesday April 27 and Wednesday May 4.

Highlights Week 17

Division 1:- Unison, all of whose players registered double figure scores narrowly beat Colly Wobblers, for whom Mike Unsworth scored 17. Greyhound ensured second place after their win over Turks Head Sinners; Ritchie Venner scored 20 for Greyhound.  Whippet, thanks to 16 from Debbie Davidson beat Turks Head Saints.   In the other game Rugby Hounds beat Newburgh Lions.

Division 2:- An impressive 22 points from Janet Crompton kept Squigglers undefeated, after their victory over Helenians who hang on to second place. Led by Alan Thompson’s 18 points, Ormskirk Theatre Company had a comfortable win over Aughton Institute, for whom John Hesketh scored 12. Despite 17 points from Rob Green, Benchwarmers lost to Ormskirk Tennis Club; Paul Prior making his customary large score of 21 points. Tennis Club need to win next week against Squigglers, to secure second place. 

The Handicap League title will be decided next week when Whippet (18) who lead on 25 points play second placed Robin Hood (16) who are on 24.

President's Trophy

Ormskirk has won the President's Trophy for the fourth year in succession, making it ten wins in the last twelve seasons. In the final evening of matches Ormskirk beat Warrington, who were one point ahead in the table before the match, 55-44 with 19 from John Wilson and 17 from Pat Gibson. In the second match Wirral were beaten 53-37. Pat Gibson scored 25 and John Wilson 17. 

Congratulations to all the players: Pat Gibson, Gary Grant, Charles Johnson, Mike Unsworth and John Wilson.

Highlights Week 16

Division 1:- With two more matches to be played, Unison have clinched the title after their win over Robin Hood; Alan Gibbs (16) top scored for the winners while Paul McAteer achieved the same score for Robin Hood. Greyhound remain second after their comfortable win over Rugby Hounds; Mal Collier scored 16 for the winners and Eric Lupton (19) top scored for Rugby Hounds.  Despite 20 points from Jim Maloney Newburgh Lions lost to Colly Wobblers, for whom Mike Unsworth scored 17.   Whippet, thanks to 16 from Debbie Davidson beat Turks Head Sinners, for whom Bill Gerrard made his usual sizeable total of 21.

Division 2:- Squigglers guaranteed top spot after their win over Bispham Farmers Arms; Janet Crompton top scored with15 points for the winners and Jim Dawber scored 13 for Farmers Arms.   Ormskirk Tennis Club had a comfortable win over Helenians and as a result second place is still up for grabs; Paul Prior (17), Dave Gordon (12) and Keith Mountain (13) scored well for the Tennis Club who achieved a full house in each of the first two rounds. Dave Boyd (13) scored well for Helenians. Despite an impressive 19 points form Rob Jones, Hayfield lost to Ormskirk Theatre Company, for whom Alan Thompson scored 15. Aughton Institute won for the second week in succession beating Benchwarmers despite 18 points from Rob Green.
