Ormskirk began the defence of their title with one win and one draw. Liverpool 2a were beaten 51-45, Eric Lupton scored 20 and David Hodgson, on debut, scored 12. The match against Wirral finished with each team on 46, Eric Lupton scoring 16 and David Hodgson 13.
