Congratulations to Unison who have won the MQL Feeny Cup. In a very tight group of three, they lost to Oxton Cons (Wirral) 45-48 despite 16 points from Darren Martin. In losing by fewer than four points they picked up a losing bonus point which was to prove crucial. Rainhill Victoria (Liverpool) had already beaten Oxton Cons 60-52, so Unison just needed to beat Rainhill in the final match which they did by 54-47. Charles Johnson scored 18 and Darren Martin another 16.
Abbey Saints lost the final of the MQL Rendon Cup 30-43 against Bookworms (Liverpool).

Forty players representing thirteen teams attended at Aughton Institute and saw two closely contested matches.
In the Plate Final Division One winners Colly Wobblers were unable to overcome a 12 point handicap against Division Two winners Abbey Saints who triumphed 56-53. Barbara Flaherty scored 16 for the winners and Pat Gibson scored 22 for the losers.
In the Don Liptrot Trophy Final between Squigglers and Abbey Sinners the scores were level after eight rounds, Sinners starting one ahead on the handicap. In the extra round Sinners scored a full house to win 58-53. Bill Gerrard scored 18 (+2) for the winners with Janet Crompton scoring 14 (+3) for the losers.
Thanks to all who assisted in the running of the evening, especially Brian Ball who presented the trophies.
