Charity Quiz

The Southport & Formby League are holding their annual Charity Quiz on Friday March 24th at the Sands Hotel in Ainsdale starting at 8pm.

Their charity is Queenscourt Hospice.

All are welcome.

Highlights Week 22

Division 1:- All four Unison players registered double figure scores, with Darren Martin (16) and Dave Kenrick (15) leading the way, as they swept to victory over Newburgh Lions. Similarly all four of Whippet’s players scored double figures as the beat Abbey Sinners. 21 points and another ‘full house’ from Pat Gibson assured Colly Wobblers  win over Rugby Hounds, for whom David Hodgson scored 15. In the other game Robin Hood beat Helenians. Next week’s match between Greyhound and Unison will decide who wins league 1a, while in league 1b Squigglers need at least a draw against Robin Hood otherwise the winners will be Whippet.

Division 2:- A three man Legion Lions, for whom Steve Garret scored 15, drew with Aughton Institute. Despite 19 points from Kevin Walton,  Abbey Saints lost to Ormskirk Tennis Club for whom Paul Prior scored15. 15 points from Val Hyson wasn’t enough for OCC, who lost to Parbold Exiles. League 2a could be won by Abbey Saints, Ormskirk Tennis Club or Gang of Four all of whom play next week. The match between Ormskirk Theatre Company and Legion Lions will decide who wins league 2b.

Merseyside Challenge Cup

Colly Wobblers have qualified for the final after beating Wings from Southport&Formby by three points, 40 to 37. Pat Gibson contributed 21 of the points.

Highlights Week 21

Division 1:-17 points from John Wilson assured Greyhound’s win over Newburgh Lions for whom John Purslow scored 15. 16 points from Mike Flaherty was enough to earn Helenians a draw with Squigglers.  Despite 16 points from Colin McDonald, Rugby Hounds lost to Unison for whom Madeline Evans scored 17 and Charles Johnson 15. In the other game Whippet beat Robin Hood.

Division 2:- Abbey Saints beat a three man Gang of Four. 15 points from Jim Dawber earned Parbold Exiles a draw with Ormskirk Tennis Club.  Ormskirk Theatre Company, for whom Alan Thompson scored 14, beat Ormskirk Farmers. Despite 16 points from Rob Green, Benchwarmers lost narrowly to Aughton Institute. 

Highlights Week 20

Division 1:- 18 points from Charles Johnson and 15 from Darren Martin assured Unison’s victory over Colly Wobblers. Abbey Sinners returned to winning ways after their win over Robin Hood; Bill Gerrard (21) and Francis Williams (15) led the scoring for the winners. Barry Marshall’s 18 points greatly helped in Squigglers win over Whippet. In a high scoring game Greyhound, for whom John Wilson scored 17, beat Rugby Hounds; David Hodgson scored 20 for the losing team.

Division 2:- Gang of Four beat Parbold Exiles thanks to 16 from Rob Jones. Despite 25 points from Rob Green Benchwarmers lost narrowly to Legion Lions. In the other game Ormskirk Farmers lost narrowly to Aughton Institute.
