Merseyside Challenge Cup

Colly Wobblers and Unison both won their matches in the quarter finals. They now meet in the semi finals next month.

Colly Wobblers beat Wings from Southport 47-38 with Mike Unsworth scoring 17. Unison beat Wallaseyans from Wirral in a close game 44-42, taking the lead for the first time by winning round seven 8-2, Darren Martin leading the way with 21.

Highlights Week 18

Division 1:- With Unison not playing Colly Wobblers assumed top spot with a win over Newburgh Lions; Pat Gibson registered 18 points and a ‘full house’ for the winners while John Purslow (16) and Jim Maloney (15) led the scoring for the losers. 15 points from David Hodgson helped Rugby Hounds to victory over Abbey Sinners. Squigglers won the day against Abbey Saints thanks to 15 from Janet Crompton. 17 from Andy Francis helped Greyhound beat Robin Hood.

Division 2:- Whippet stay top after beating Parbold Exilles.  Ormskirk Tennis Club continued their excellent run and move into second place after beating a depleted Gang of Four; Paul Prior scored 18 for the winners.   In other matches OCC beat Red Lion Bulldogs and Ormskirk Theatre Company overcame Aughton Institute. 

MIMIR Trophy

The Ormskirk heat of the MIMIR Trophy will take place at the Greyhound in Ormskirk on Wednesday February 17th with the first matches starting at 8 pm prompt. The entry window is now open until noon on Saturday.

President's Trophy

Ormskirk suffered a heavy defeat to Liverpool by 43 points to 31, John Wilson scoring 18 for Ormskirk. One point is needed from the final match to ensure that the title is retained. 

Highlights Week 17

Division 1:-  Eric Lupton’s 15 points helped Rugby Hounds draw with Newburgh Lions for whom Jim Maloney also scored 15. Colly Wobblers beat Squigglers thanks to 16 points from Pat Gibson.  In the other games Helenians had the narrowest of victories over Greyhound after a remarkable comeback in the last round and Abbey Sinners beat Robin Hood. 

Division 2:-Whippet remain top despite losing to Ormskirk Tennis Club; Paul Prior scored 21 for the winners and Gordon Richards 15 for the losers.  Ormskirk Farmers, thanks to 17 from Frank Molyneux, beat Red Lion Bulldogs. 18 points from Colin Hyson was a major factor in OCC’s win over Benchwarmers. Gang of Four stay second after their win over Ormskirk Theatre Company.
